Halfway Point of Fuge Camp!!

Week 3 of camp is starting today!! This means that I am halfway through this experience. This summer has been a summer that I will never forget. I have met some amazing people that I will miss terribly when I have to say good-bye but I know that I have some new friends for life. There have been highs....and there have also been lows. All in all, God is amazing and faithful. He can use every situation to His glory.

For those of you who have never seen the beaches of Florida, they are beautiful. I have some pics for you to see. We got to see a manatee swimming close to the beach when we were taking our staff photo. So cool!!

I do have some pics on my facebook page for anyone who has facebook.

I hate to cut this so short but I have to go set up for week 3 registration...so it is off to the PIT for me.

Love Ya!

Good Friends and Good Times

This weekend has been a blur. Friends from all over came in this weekend so we could attend the wedding of our girl Chelsi Maxwell now Bruce. Gina "Dirty" Tramel and Alan Felts drove in from Texas. Sarah Cowan (South Carolina) met Lauren Humphrey in K-town (for those of us who didn't know this Knoxville), Tennessee and then they drove to Decatur, Alabama to meet us with Megan Jones and on to Louisiana they drove.

Alan and Gina made it to Shreveport, LA early enough so we got to go out to eat Friday night and just hang out and talk about all the good times this past summer. Sad news about our home "The Cove", Alan talked to someone who worked at Ridgecrest and they told him that "The Cove" is no longer. They were tearing it down to build another structure because apparently it was not safe. Go figure, we thought it was the best. Our home away from home!! Meg, Lauren, Katy and Duncan will have to send us pics and let us know what changes at Ridgecrest have happened so we will all know.

Meg, Lauren and Sarah rolled in about 11:30 pm. They had been in the car all day long!! But all thought of sleep and being tired flew out the window when they got here. I believe that when we looked at the clock before going to bed it said "2:30 am. What a long, fun night kinda reminds me of all those late nights at camp.

On to the wedding!!! Chelsi looked amazing. The wedding was gorgeous and my favorite part was when she wiped the sweat from a very nervous Dave Bruce's face while saying her vows. What a wife she is going to be. I think everyone in the church said "awwwww!" When we got to the wedding an noticed the colors, we are proud to say that we matched the wedding party. Take a look at the photo! That was the first thing Chelsi told us when we got to see after the ceremony, "Wow, ya'll match my colors." We were all sporting a new "Fuge team uniform".

The reception was beautiful. Lots of Louisiana flair with using the "Fleur de Lis" as decoration. Chelsi had the time of her life. She danced her heart out. Watching Chelsi dance with her dad was so sweet but the first dance of the newly married Mr. and Mrs. Dave Bruce was breath-taking. Dave was singing to Chelsi and Chelsi was singing to Dave and it was cute.

My friends have now all gone back to their homes and I sitting here remembering how blessed I am by having such great friends and I constantly thank God for them. This reunion came at the best time. I have been going through so much especially this past week. I am in the process of looking for a new job, with that comes moving, finding somewhere to live, and all of this has to happen before May 16, my last day of school. I leave on the 18th for "Training Week" and then on to camp!!! So I have lots to do and a little time. Please pray that God will show me what and where I am supposed to be in my life and my job.

Love you,

Stacy

Is it summer yet?!!!

It has been a long time since I updated this thing and since I know of one very important person who reads this thing...here goes.

Where do I start...

New Year's in New Orleans...

What a great time hanging out with Chelsi, Dave Bruce, Shaw and Erica and Chelsi's parents. It had been years since I had been in New Orleans and not since Hurrican Katrina. What an eye-opening experience. We went to the Aquarium of the Americas....awesome!! We strolled down Bourbon Street...craziness!! Did I mention that this was also the time that New Orleans was hosting the Sugar Bowl....Georgia v/s Hawaii. So many people and crazy drunk people at that!

The junior high school softball team that I am coaching is probably gonna be the death of me. The lack of desire, of determination to win is really depressing. I feel as if I want this more than they do. With that said, I have suffered the only injury of the team as of now. After a couple of doctors' appointments, they have finally decided that nothing in my knee is torn, (thank you Lord) I only have a dislocated knee cap and fluid on the knee which can be treated with medicine and not the surgery they were first talking about. I told them that I didn't have time for surgery I had a camp to work this summer and I would not let anything happen to stand in the way.

School is on the downhill slide. We are in the big push to make sure that all the kids are ready for the LEAP and iLEAP tests that will take place in March. Even though I don't teach a core curriculum class, the pressure is still there. It will soon be time to start counting down the days until school is out.

On the family front...
Rodeo season has kicked off for the nieces, Sabrina (8) and Sara (2). This will be the first season riding for Sara, (she will be lead in by her dad), and she cannot wait. The kids are getting so grown and livinig away from them is hard in that I don't always get to go to the important events in their lives. I was able to see Sabrina receive her second saddle for winning her age division in the rodeo events for last season.

FUGE...
Wow less than 100 days until camp '08. I finally found out the tracks I will be teaching...lawn games and crafts. This could be a very interesting summer. West Palm Beach here I come!!!

Fuge friends...
It is less than a month until Chelsi's wedding and the meeting of FUGE friends here at my house. As of now, Gina, Lauren, Megan, Alan, and Sarah are coming. Yeah friends!! I cannot wait until you get here. Plan on eating good home-cooked Lousiana B-B-Q.

FUGE '08!!

Hey everyone!!

It has been awhile since I have updated so here the update goes. I finally received a call from LifeWay and I am the Recreation Director at West Palm Beach, FL this summer. This is a location that has only been a M-FUGE camp so now we are a Combo camp. (M-FUGE and Centrifuge) This is going to be a great summer. Last summer I got to hang out in the mountains and see God's beauty there and this summer, to the beach for Christ I go.

I have truly been blessed by God to be able to be used by Him because of the vocation that He has called me to be in (teaching) that I have the summers free to work FUGE.
Please pray for me and all the students that will come through the FUGE camps this summer. Maybe you will be at a FUGE camp this summer, if so let me know and God bless.

Mexico Mission trip

God is truly amazing! I just got home this morning from a mission trip to Mexico.

We left on Thursday afternoon and drove through the night until we got to the mission house in Laredo, Texas. After a little snooze time, we got up, had lunch and made a Wal-Mart run. Friday afternoon, we crossed the Mexican border and drove around Nuevo Laredo, Mexico and then the rains came. It rained so much that the visitation and passing out invitations to a block party for Saturday got cancelled. Because Mexico doesn't have a drainage system in place, all the roads and alleys were flooded. It was a very eye-opening experience to see all the people going on about their business as if the sun was shining. The kids were swimming in the streets and the cars were trying to drive through the water and stalled out. The only thing of the car you could see was the top of the car.

On Saturday, we loaded up and headed across the border again. We went to a local orphanage. What a blessing! We got to minister to the kids through, puppets, music, string art, balloon characters and the message of God's love. It was really cool listening to our interpreter speak God's Word and the kids responding.

After the orphanage, we got to go into the market place and shop. While we were at the market place, three people accepted Christ and lots of Spanish Bibles were passed out. We were suppose to be there an hour and then go invite people to the block party that was suppose to take place that night but again the rains fell. It rained so hard again, that the block party had to be cancelled. It was very disappointing that we didn't get to go into the streets and minister or even have the block party. God apparently had other plans for us.

Sunday, the last day of our trip, we had a Sunday morning service at the mission house. People from the surrounding areas came and Bro. Kelley Hines and his family led the service. During the Bible study time, we got to spend time with the kids. We had face painting and balloon characters and just spending time with them. What an awesome experience.

After church was over, we got on the bus and headed for home. After having problems with one of the vans, we loaded everyone on the bus and kept on trucking until we reached Shreveport. I arrived back in Coushatta at around 3:30 a.m. on Monday morning.

I thank God for this wonderful experience. All the planning and preparations for this trip took place while I was at FUGE this summer so I had not even planned on going. On the Friday before the trip, the church was having a volleyball fundraiser that I attended and they said that they had an open slot did I want to go. Heck yeah, I wanted to go!!! So I started preparing. What an amazing opportunity.

More pics will be on Facebook as soon as I can put them there!

Lindsay's Wedding

Last weekend was so much fun!!! I got to get back together with some of the most beautiful people that I had the opportunity to work with all summer. Between Lindsay and Eric's summers of working FUGE-there were about 30 fugers there.

We had a blast and thanks to Lauren and her wonderful family for hosting us.

I can't wait until the next time we are all together. Plans are already in the making for that. Details will be posted ASAP!!!

Back in the Real World

Hey blogger friends sorry that it has taken me so long to write on here, I have been really busy. School has now officially started and thankfully I am back in the gym at the elementary school that I have been at for a few years.

It has been kinda weird getting back home and seeing all the people that I left in May. It was great seeing my mom, sister and two beautiful nieces when I got off the plane in Shreveport. I knew that I had missed them but I didn't realize how much because they sent me lots of mail each week.

I know that God has big plans for my life and I cannot wait to see if that includes working another summer with the wonderful people that I was blessed to work with this summer.

Love ya and stay in touch,

Stacy
This are the two most important people in my life: my nieces, Sabrina (8 years old) and Sara (2 years old)
